FACT is a youth empowerment movement based in Wisconsin, led by young people who 
are passionate about raising awareness of the harmful tactics used by commercial tobacco companies and the health risks associated with tobacco and nicotine use.
Since its founding in 2001, FACT has been driven by teen activism, bringing together young people across Wisconsin who are ready to speak out, take action, and make a meaningful impact. From 7th grade through their senior year, FACT members collaborate to organize local events, plan activities, and educate their communities about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine.
Each FACT group is supported by an adult advisor who helps teens set goals, solve problems, and stay connected. The movement is also supported by professional staff from the American Lung Association, who work closely with youth board members and adult advisors to help grow and strengthen FACT.

Local FACT Updates
In 2024, the Wisconsin Rapids Area Middle School (WRAMS) FACT group made great strides in addressing youth tobacco and nicotine use.
To raise awareness, WRAMS FACT collaborated with a local radio station, participated in community events, and advocated for policies supporting students in quitting rather than punishing them. One key initiative was proposing vape disposal stations in bathrooms to promote proper disposal and reduce environmental impact. WRAMS FACT also used creative outreach, like QR codes on ducks linking to resources, and developed wellness kits with stress-relief tools and nicotine-free alternatives to help students quit.
Education is central to FACT’s mission. Through discussions and activities, WRAMS FACT aims to inform peers and the community about the physical and mental health impacts of nicotine. WRAMS FACT remains committed to fostering a healthier, tobacco-free environment. We encourage others to join us in creating lasting change!
