Coalition Business

The next Central Wisconsin Tobacco Free coalition meeting is on Wednesday, February 8th from 1:30-3:30 PM at Portage County Health and Human Services Department (817 Whiting Ave, Stevens Point). At our meeting we will be discussing our 2016 successes, mental illness and tobacco use, and planning for our 2017 contract year. We hope to see you there!

Wisconsin Rapids FACT member and Wisconsin State FACT Board Member, Adileen Sii, was selected to be one of three youth board members representing FACT at the Wisconsin Association of School Council’s IGNITE Student Leadership Summit on February 23rd at UW-Madison.

At the conference she along with other student school leaders from Wisconsin will gain the knowledge and skills to be better leaders in their school and communities. Attendees will also leave with an action plan to take back to their school and community to put their leadership potential to work.

The American Lung Association recently released their 2017 ‘State of Tobacco Control’ report. The report shows the progress and failure of states and the federal government to prevent and reduce tobacco use. To learn more go to

Spark Announces New Resource for Tobacco Prevention

Spark, a Wisconsin-wide, state-supported program, helps college campuses pass tobacco-free policies and educate campus communities that tobacco in all its forms is a threat. Spark offers young adults a platform and an opportunity to be an advocate on their campus.

Spark just released their new semi-monthly e-newsletter- ignite. ignite will feature information, resources and updates about tobacco-free college campuses and tobacco issues affecting young adults. The newsletter will be used to share upcoming programs and events, new resources, success stories and lessons learned from other campuses, new research and exciting initiatives.
